Dear Friends,

John Jordan, possibly a founding member of the AAW, but certainly a lifetime Honorary member passed away Feb 28 after a long illness according to his wife Vicki.

He was an extraordinary turner & artisan.

Some of the old timers in the club may remember John's 2 day demonstration at the Gautch residence in Onalsaska, 2008 or 2009. That was my first club meeting, I think.

All of us attendees were impressed by his skill, use of color, form and folksy way. Even purchased some his hollowing tools at that meeting. He was a master especially at green wood turning, mainly noted for hollow forms in which did carving on.

I've met him a few times since then at conferences and found him be friendly and helpful. His signature of selling his tools over years was that he “only sells the tools he uses”.

Another stalwart of the community no longer with us. He will be missed.
Thank you.

Bob Raasch
