Pretty short notice to pull it together before the meeting. I need more than a few days to plan.

Members,
Regarding Bob's email of a few days ago I think we have quite a few items necessary for building camera boom systems for over the turning and the tailstock views on hand including the high end stuff, the sturdy tripods and accessories; all we have to do is delegate someone to look at what we have, determine from one of several sources such as what James found out at a pen turning conference recently or the AAW reference Bob R. mentioned. Plus there are surely many other resources we could use. We may be able to get a good set up with some added hardware-store items or we may need some specialized parts. I am pretty sure it ain't rocket science.
But we need someone to act. To actually do something. To get the wheels turning. In a fairly short time frame since our professional demo is 11 days from now, August 19. We owe it to our members and our demonstrators to get it done.
James, please call a work group, or authorize some one to start the process, or order materials or something tangible. There is not a lot to be done, I think. But we gotta do it.
Members, if a call for a work group comes along, PLEASE make yourselves available to help if at all possible.
John

Hi All,
There has been talk bout AV periodically this past year+. I am reminded that the AAW has detailed plans on how to make the boom that the AAW uses at all the onsite symposia. I’ve seen it action! Plans available at tiny.cc/boom The journal lists cost for hardware bout $400, I suspect that would be closer to $500 in today’s dollars. I have not interest in making one, however, this may be a project the club membership or committee may wish to pursue. Hardware additional cost; monitor, camera, etc.
As an aside, we have not had visual AV for several months now, however, memory fairly short lately, so can’t recollect last time was used, maybe Alan Lacer?
Anywho, a quick and dirty would be to hang 2 of our existing analog cameras on the existing truss system, directly wire cams to TV’s via the RCA RGB/sound inputs on TV’s, 1 camera per TV. At least some visual would be available. Ability to hear the presenter, another story???
I think Lyndal is our presenter, been here several times, would be nice to give his expertise the due he deserves. He will surely bring about new learning…the club meeting’s purpose afterall.
Hope to see you in a few.
