Whoa!  Kris, thanks so much for this.  My Grizzly now has a strip of 
duct tape over the channel.  I discovered I could barely reach the blade 
edge (stopped of course) with my ring finger poked in the slot.  The 
blade is about 5/8" in from the outside edge and the slot is only about 
7/16" or so wide, but I never thought of that hazard.
