Hello members,

I want to announce that the club will again be sponsoring a Saturday
morning woodturning class for home schooled children aged nine through
high school. Just like the one we did in October 2015 at A Line. We
expect about 24 children and their parents. It will take place 8AM til
Noon on Saturday February 25 in the back building at A Line.

First, we need eight members to teach turning. The projects can be
simple, such as an icicle, top, small ornament, or a stick or Slimline
pen. Or whatever trips your fancy that an amateur can complete in about
a 45 minute shift. If we have 8 lathes going we can get every child
through by noon. This will take Duane's six plus two club lathes. We
will need some helpers to get the club lathes transported between the
community center and A Line and back.

Second, the volunteers should bring their own tools, wood, finish and
kits for the projects they have in mind and look forward to a rewarding
morning. We will have the turners wear face shields and ask others not
actively turning to wear eye protection if they are watching closely.
We will have all parents complete the usual insurance forms and this
activity is of course covered by the insurance we carry, as you all
recall. Please set a good example by wearing appropriate safety gear.

Third, if you have a low box about 2'x3' for our guests of shorter
stature to stand on while at the lathe, please bring it.

Fourth, we will be signing up volunteers at the meeting on Saturday. If
you can't make the meeting, contact me for questions or to sign up by a
return email or phone me at 608-248-2782. In advance, your help is much
appreciated. Thanks to Duane Hill for letting us use his lathes and
thanks to A Line for hosting us.

John Griffiths
