Hello members,

We are still looking for some members to stand for election to the
office of Secretary, Treasurer and Librarian. We chose not to address
this at the October meeting because we did not want to take any more
time away from Cindy Drozda's excellent demonstration than was
absolutely necessary.

The offices of Secretary and Treasurer are voting board members. AAW
membership is required (but in return for your dues, you get the very
fine journal they publish). They should be able to attend most board
meetings as the nuts and bolts of running the club takes place at the
board level so we don't clutter up regular club meetings with any more
business than necessary. The board meets monthly for a couple of hours
in the evening and for the past several years, at A Line. The two jobs
take some time; but look at me, I survived three years of being
treasurer and am still able to walk and chew gum. So they are doable.

The Librarian is a board member whose presence is not required so much
at board meetings; but does need to work with the Assistant Librarian in
checking materials in and out at club meetings, and helping decide what
to purchase each year. Working with the board on the library budget is
a part of the job. Being the librarian is really quite simple because
our Assistant Librarian has a very complete knowledge of how the library
works. One could say he has forgotten more about the library than most
of us will ever know; so as I said, the job is simple. AAW membership
is encouraged but not required.

We really need some folks to step up and accept nomination for these
jobs. Please consider volunteering as the club functions best with good
board members doing the work behind the scenes. Thanks for reading this
and considering if you can step up.

John
