In general, the more you cut it up the less likely wood is to crack as it
dries. Keep in mind if you want half inch material to work with, you may
need to cut it thicker to allow straightening after it is dry. Start with a
cut through the center of the log. Proceed with the flat side on the saw
table, and make 3/4 inch rips 90 degrees to the first cut. I assume the end
grain has been sealed. If not, recut the ends to expose fresh wood and seal
with glue or equal. If the wood is at twenty percent, it may dry to less
than ten in a few weeks in a warm shop or house. Good luck, KC
