Many thanks to all who attended the Fall shows in Milwaukee & Providence, supported handmade in America, made purchases, placed orders & spoke with the exhibitors about commissions!

Woodturner Thomas Kelly from VT took this photo of one of his many customers at the Providence Show and titled it "Happy Bonnie" - which says it all!

Join our community on facebook where daily postings include new work fresh out of the exhibitors shops & studios, news, Best in Show winners, happy customers, sneak peeks of the shows & so much more!

We invite you to share your favorite handmade in America pieces too!

SHOW NEWS -Happy buyers at the milwaukee show!

What fun to take photos of happy buyers leaving the show with a special piece, handmade in America to decorate their home & enrich their lives! This happy couple is going home with a wall cabinet by Edmund Barkey!

Tim Shown finalizes the details with the very happy new owner of his newest piece - a handcrafted table that was also the showstopper signature piece in his booth - including the delivery of the table on his way home to Indiana. Tim is formerly from Maine, has been an exhibitor in the Providence Show and made his debut as an exhibitor in the Milwaukee Show this year!

Jonathan Kostreva needed a tape measure, some careful loading techniques & perhaps a shoehorn to get this Bear View Ridge cabinet in this happy customer's vehicle!

I wish I could share all the happy Milwaukee Show customer photos with you but the newsletter would be miles long! From small cash & carry items, framed photos, cutting boards, lamps & rugs to every imaginable piece of furniture it was a delight to see all the happy customers, hear about orders placed and the many conversations about custom commissioned work!

best in show at the milwaukee show!

            COFFEE CUP SALUTE!

I love to start my day with a cup of hot black coffee in a handmade cup or mug! (and watch the birds) So here's to all the talented artists in America that design & handcraft coffee (or tea) cups & mugs! Join me each month as I feature artists & mugs/cups!

I recently had lunch at the Fuller Craft Museum - a perfect place to reflect, feed your art soul, have lunch! It's also a great "half way point" to meet someone coming from Boston! Recently I rendezvoused with Jason Gregoricus of the North Bennet Street School to celebrate the success of the alumni pavilion at the Providence Show and plot for 2012! (tomato basil bisque was extra yummy as was the Mediterranean chicken panini)

I arrived early - strategically - so I could breathe in the zen of the building & surroundings, see what new installations were going on and of course see what was new in the store - and this is what caught my eye! Handcrafted mug by Roseberry-Winn made especially for the Fuller with proceeds going to the museum! How perfect is this coffee cup salute? Get yours while they last and support a great cause too!

more highlights from the Milwaukee show !

Dwight Sargent of Pompanoosuc Mills demonstrates access to the secret compartment - a new feature on one of the bureaus - much to the surprise and delight of an interested customer!

For the first time ever in any of the Fine Furnishings Shows the Best in Show judges awarded an exhibitor two of the awards. Nancy Kennedy won both Best in Show Fine Art/Craft - Body of Work but also the coveted Marc Harrison Award for Marketing Excellence.

The judges agreed that Nancy offered "great contemporary rugs that are unapologetially cheerful and were presented in an inviting, well-organized, and well-lit display".

Michael Route takes a rest on his "Loop Bench" after being overwhelmed by all the attention to his piece before the show as the marque piece, photo & story in the pre-show story in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and then capturing the attention of the judges at the show winning Best in Show - Furniture - Contemporary - Piece!

Commissioned by the town of Frederic, WI for a public space the judges commented that Mike's bench was a "dramatic presence in the show" and that they were intrigued by the design and the iron work of the piece.

The Last Word: what a fall!

Whew! What a crazy Fall - back to school, Milwaukee Show, Columbus Day, Providence Show, Veterans Day and before you know it - it will be Thanksgiving!

If you missed the Fall Shows - your shows for handcrafted furniture made in America and accessories, fine art and craft - then send up a smoke signal - text, email, or call and I would be happy to mail you a Show Directory from any or all of our 2011 shows in Baltimore, Milwaukee & Providence - especially if you are looking for anything - big, small - for home, office, condo, apartment, loft, yurt, yacht and more - for upgrade, addition, renovation, new build and more - for gift for you, gift for others or both! - for items for yourself or your clients! Whatever your needs, whatever your timing - if you are looking for a special piece - in stock or just for you - then the shows have extensive resources for you to consider!

PS - Benny : office pup, paper shredder, ball roller, foot warmer - was happy as a clam hiking in Franconia Notch, NH over Columbus Day weekend - but had to stop for a brief rest on Artist's Bluff - so appropriate I think! (And yes, he has a black dot on his tongue!)

One of the many kinds of pieces that Linda does is create clay bowls or plates using vintage doilies - thus she can create a piece from your grandmother's favorite doily that will last a lifetime and be a legacy for the next generation.
