For the past several month we've been talking about purchasing a bigger lathe. The vote, as to which lathe we'd like to purchase, will be at this Saturday's meeting.

If
anyone is not able to be present at the meeting they can vote via mail or
email. To be counted, Mike Henderson
must receive your vote prior to November 21st.

Mike Henderson 2808 Aster Place Onalaska, WI. 54650 email: asterplace at charter.net.

We
need to have a quorum of members that vote for it to be valid with the majority
vote being accepted.

Just to clarify, families with a family or spouse membership (for example Rich and Sally Egan, Renee and Greg Zeller)-both members have the ability to vote. We need a quorum, the more votes we get, the better.

The officers have researched the options of lathes that met our
previously discussed criteria. There are
several lathes available but due to either their price or the lack of local
service support, lathes from Vicmarc, Oneway, Rikon, among others were eliminated
from the selection. Each of the
individual lathe proposals include; installing 220 volt service at the center
since all of the options are 220, casters/mobile base to aid in moving the
lathe, and the additional materials needed to expand the storage unit at the
center. The Jet and Delta lathes that
would be purchased from A-line have tax added to their bids.

Bill Kammueller’s
Powermatic 3520B Lathe; 1 ¼ X 8 spindle, 2 hp, 20” swing, 35” between
centers.

Bid amount $2625 (if this was purchased brand new it would be
$4025-Since the club meant so much to Bill, Marj has offered the club a very
generous discounted price on it. Thank
you Marj for the offer. The officers
have also talked about a Memorial plaque for Bill on the lathe.)

Jet 1642-2EVS Pro
Lathe; 1 ¼ X 8 spindle, 2 hp, 16” swing, and 42” between centers.

Bid amount $2841

Delta 46-755X Steel
Bed Lathe; 1 ¼ X 8 spindle, 2 hp, 16” Swing, and 42” between centers.

Bid Amount $3295

Thank you for your cooperation.

Take Care,

Greg Haugen
