<p>Hello Members, <br>
</p>
<p>The December meeting is coming up soon. Like Saturday. This
Saturday. December 16. Please show up early to help with the
set-up!<br>
</p>
<p>We have a new take on the December meeting format and I am hoping
it will work out well. <br>
</p>
<p>1, First, the food. Pam will be making up chili and
cornbread, along with some condiments so you can tailor-make it to
you degree of spiciness you desire. Your part: please bring a
dessert or salad to pass.</p>
<p>2, We will be doing a Round Robin. This will give us chances
to walk around viewing the round robin demos, ask lots of
questions and generally work up an appetite. We have four round
robin topics: The<b> First</b> is Duane Hill doing thread chasing
(and he just might reveal what he does with them if he ever
catches them). <b>Second</b> Aaron will be demonstrating a bowl
from a board. Always an interesting topic that has been
demonstrated in the past. <b>Third</b>, James and Julie Bloomer
will be demonstrating their resin blanks and may turn something
using them. These folks are the resin power couple in CRW and
their work is always interesting and unique. James may have a
word or three about 3D printing and it's applications to turning
as well. <b> Forth</b>, Pen Making. We have a bunch of pen kits
ready to turn. They belong to Luther, we turn and assemble them
then give them to Luther. This will be a chance for members to
practice and sharpen their pen turning skills and for newbies to
set one up in a lathe and give it a try with expert supervision.
and a chance to do some good. Jay will be our resident expert in
this. So we plan to have for four lathes ready to rock and turn.
And anyone who makes up lyrics based on the tune "Rockin' around
the Christmas tree" to "Rockin' around the Christmas lathe" will
get two drawing tickets if they sing it and perhaps three if they
can persuade Dan Wilson to accompany you on a Native American
flute.<br>
</p>
<p>3, We will be having a drawing for prizes for the challenges
entered over the year by members. So to refresh your memories, we
had <u>Top making</u>, <u>All skewed up</u>, <u>2x4 by 4'</u>,
<u>Whimsical item</u> and <u>Moving parts</u> challenges for the
year. When you sign in for the meeting, take a ticket for each
challenge you entered. We will draw form a supply of prizes
(Hint, some of the prizes just might be the topic of an up-coming
challenge. Speak to Pam and she just might reveal her plan.)</p>
<p>So be sure to show up and have a good time.</p>
<p>John<br>
