You have ten fingers, use a push stick or buy a saw stop. But your lungs are something that runs your whole body, you can live without the rest of the things, but your breathing is something you should invest in. Menards sells a smaller barrel type dust/air cleaner, they are yellow and I have one along with another air cleaner. The unit sells for about $130.00 and it sucks some air particles pretty good enough for a small shop. You can use the dust mask along with this to help clean the air out of the shop. The smaller particles is what will really hurt you and they can just sit inside of your lungs, making it harder to breath every day. If you are planning on doing any amount of work in the shop in the future, make a little investment with your shop and try to keep the air clean. The mask will help and check to see how much of the smaller particles it catches though. If you are working with MDF, these particles contain formaldehyde and this is really bad for anyone to be breathing also. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'>Jim Cox<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'>Safety Coordinator -WalzCraft Industries<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'>Owner-Clean Shavings Woodworking<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:black'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><div style='border:none;border-top:solid #B5C4DF 1.0pt;padding:3.0pt 0in 0in 0in'><p class=MsoNormal><b><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"'>From:</span></b><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"'> crw-talk-bounces@crwoodturner.com [mailto:crw-talk-bounces@crwoodturner.com] <b>On Behalf Of </b>Dan Erickson<br><b>Sent:</b> Monday, June 25, 2012 12:03 AM<br><b>To:</b> crw-talk@crwoodturner.com<br><b>Subject:</b> [Crw-talk] Dust mask protection<o:p></o:p></span></p></div><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><div><p class=MsoNormal>Greetings all,<o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal> <o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal>So I am running into a bit of a dilemma that i didnt have while in Hawaii. In Hawaii my workshop was outdoors and had nice breezes to move the dust particles away fairly well. I did from time to time have to use a dust mask. Now move forward to present day in Wisconsin with my shop in a Garage with little to no air flow and I have myself in quite a pickle. I purchased some dust masks from menards to use but I am not 100% sure on how well they will work for the small particles. I was wondering if anyone had some recommendations for someone on a budget? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. On a positive and side note my schedule has finally appeared to balance itself out and I will be available for the next woodturners meeting. <o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal> <o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal>Thank you for your time.<o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal> <o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal> <o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal>Daniel Erickson<o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal>Turning a New Leaf<o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal>(608) 406-6771<o:p></o:p></p></div></div></body></html>
