After reading the newsletter and Rich's
encouraging commentary, I thought I'd better
fess up.

Years ago, in my turning infancy, member Art
Ustby showed me his "Shelf of Shame"
collection. Art is an expert. These are
turnings that don't "turn" out. I had a
shelf of shame but ran out of room.

In the early years, my biggest problem was
going through the bottom of bowls. Until I
wised up. Or thought I did.

After turning for 19 years, this walnut bowl
sat alone with other failures for about a
year. Lately, I thought I'd try to fix it.

John Fisher kindly gave me a piece of
spalted maple, so I turned a plug (inside
view) and a resulting pedestal. Today, I
applied the final coat of finish. Just needs
to be buffed and then it's done.

Like Rich said. Don't give up!!
