Wow, the long skinny versions of this lure are sold as the "Devil's
Horse" and let me tell you, they catch bass during the hot summer days
when the bass are hitting top water baits! Like just outside a patch of
weeds emerging from the surface. You can tailor your presentation of
this lure from very subtle to wild and crazy, depending on what they
want. You can twitch it or make it "walk". But when northern pike hit
such lures, they bite and their teeth ruin the paint. A light weight
hardwood is a good choice such as basswood or perhaps cedar or clear
pine. Don't even need fancy paint designs. What will mainly cost you to
make this lure is the hardware. j
