Aaron, fodder for next newsletter, if you want include. Please let me know.
Folk, this months club challenge is Wig Stands. The club is so close to reaching 200 made since December 2022. As you may remember, our wig numbers feed into the AAW's database of wigs made and donated as part of civic engagement opportunities.  Many clubs have jumped on the bandwagon, both in the US and Internationally. CRW was an early adopter of the craze to support cancer patients in this small way.The WIT community of turners has been tracking the numbers made since March 2023. Look for more detail on the WIT website or in the American Woodturner.
We showcased the CRW wig stand project at the LaCrosse Interstate Fair in July, displayed a stand along with the project fact sheet, and talked it up with folks.
Other community engagement projects that AAW affiliate clubs support are Beads for Courage, Empty Bowls and Freedom Flight Pens for veterans.   I'm quite sure, if there's a will, our club could participate in these opportunities also. All of the these projects are a good ways to get out of our silos,  spread the love and get the word out about woodturning to community.
Please make 1 or 2. If not for the besty prize, just make em to support cancer patients. Your reward will be in your knowing you've helped these folks. Thanks, -raasch
