 My fellow turners,

A recap of my verbal message at the April’s CRW club meeting regarding Ginny Wintersteen’s Star Center’s request regarding an opportunity for the club to donate items for the Star Center’s 1st Annual Tournament and Fundraiser on June 15 at Features Restaurant in Holmen. 

 

Our participation can be done by donating turned items for their silent Auction and or join the tournament by submitting a Bags team, $30/team. Other possibilities could be to turn pens to donate which they could sell. There are no restrictions to what members may turn and donate for the silent auction.

 

My suggestion is to bring your turned items to donate at the May club meeting.  You can display your donated items on the show & tell table at the May club meeting.

 

Star Center will be collecting items until June 7.  If you wish to participate but can not have items at the next club meeting, feel free to text Ginny at 608 317 6719, so she can arrange picking  your donation up.

 

As you may recall, Ginny is President of Star Center.  STAR Center: Adaptive fitness programs, inclusion programs & more (starcenterlacrosse.org).  She was a former CRW member and very active board member and club secretary some recent years back.

 

Star Center works with folks in 3 major areas: Para sports programs, adaptive recreation programs and Parkinson’s programs. All these programs emphasize removing barriers and creating opportunities so that all folks can live healthier lives. The Star Center works with Youth, Adults, Seniors and Veterans.  I’m quite sure every one of us knows personally of someone with physical and possibly mental conditions presenting challenges to living lives to their fullest potential.

 

Like this club’s ongoing Wig Stand Project, our participation in this additional community service project through your making turned items for the Star Center fundraiser silent auction can make differences in peoples live.  Please consider turning and item or 2 or 3 to help out. You’ll feel good and positive results will be realized. I plan to have several items. Please check out the STAR Center website.
