Hello All,
I wish to thank Duane Hill for stepping up last Saturday to replace the Mark
Palma demo due to an emergency in Mark's family.
Duane performed a very well-done demo on the use of the "shear scraping"
technique on bowls, to which I might add can be used on a variety of curved
surfaces. Lots of good questions and comments came from the audience during
the meeting. The tidbits learned are very useable.
As he mentioned, its use allows the turner start sanding with a much finer
grit and removes subtle imperfections in the formation of those surfaces.
For me, maybe with correct shear scraping technique, I can stop using 80
grit sandpaper as the starting grit!
Thanks again Duane.
The member turnout was much smaller than we had hoped, maybe the Dec meeting
will bring 'em back!
