Members,
Giving you all sorts of notice here: We are doing a 2x4x4' challenge
for the July meeting. So put your thinking caps on and ponder the
topic. The 2x4 can be a regular construction grade 2x4 four feet long.
Or an actual full 2" by 4" rough sawn plank four feet long.
Hardwood. Softwood. Whatever suits your fancy. We have not done this
for a while. I think it was last done when I was recovering from a knee
replacement because I don't recall anything about what people brought
in.
Our oracle Raasch has a unique way of putting the words down, and I
quote:
"Cutr up, reglue, cutr up again, turn a little, cutr up, reglue, turn
more, cutr up again, turn more, hollow a bit, put some 14 ga copper wire
on it, cutr up, reglue, oh, just have fun."
So basically, them's the rules.
Cut, glue, rethink it until you have something uniquely yours. Heck if
you buy an 8' 2x4, don't like the result of the first half, start over
with the second half. Just get the creative side of your brain going
and turn it loose to see what emerges. Perhaps just a different twist
on something you have made before. You are the expert here, just be
careful with all the sawing you might be doing. I have a plan for my
contribution but am not saying it here.
Awaiting the challenge results, John.
