I agree a branding iron, while nice would present a small slew of issues with finish. I have a different idea. Some turners I know make either wood/brass/acrylic discs to mark their work. Inserted into the recess. I was thinking something similar but less obtrusive so not to cover the original artist brand or mark. I also just purchased a laser engraver and have created this proof of concept...it's 3 mm thick basswood. I was going to try and curve it to fit inside the arc of the recess. This way we could make a bunch ahead of time and affix with some epoxy or CA and send it on its way. I can change the text to compliments of if that's the wish.Thoughts?Jim Bloomer
