Bob,
You could sand it with fine grit sand paper and shove as much dust in the hole as possible.  Then fill with thin CA glue.
Or, try to fill in with glitter.  Again, shove as much glitter in as you can and then use thu. CA glue.  I will often try to pour some glitter in on top and press it in with something other than your finger.
With both of these., prepare with some thin shellac.  I have also used CA as finish and if so, coat entire bowl first with CA and then shellac ia not necessary.
