 There is a gentleman looking for someone to turn a knob on the top of some cedar trees or long limbs.? There would be 10 to 12 of these.? I am sure he would pay to have this done for his home.? Hello Members,

First, I have survived our six inch snow and my tip for anyone buying a 
snowblower:  Get heated handlebars.   Greatest thing since sliced bread.

The 2023 demonstration schedule is attached.  It is up to date as of now 
and  we have a few openings.  One is for March.  Any volunteers?  All 
topics related to woodturning are welcome and many of you have a 
particular skill or tip that you can turn into a demo.  Get that, "turn 
into a demo"?  An unintended play on words right there.  So if you want 
to demonstrate, you know the drill, contact me and we will get you on 
the schedule.  In addition to March, we have July, September and October 
available.

The other thing I want to mention is that I have contacted Cindy Drozda 
to ask about a remote demo.  So far, she has not replied.  So I will 
shop around for someone who seems interested.  Or will at least respond 
to my emails.

Remote demos will work very well in our new home at Luther High School 
since they can be Zoomed into our meeting space and viewed on our club's 
TV sets in a meeting setting, giving us a professional demo in a social 
setting.  We can also make them available to members at home.

So tune into the board meeting tonight (Thursday) and see you Saturday 
for the monthly meeting.

OpenDocument Text

The ODT file is to Writer word processor what the DOCX is to Microsoft 
Word. Several applications including Google Docs and Google's web-based 
word processor included with Google Drive can open the ODT files for 
editing. Microsoft Word can also open ODT files and save it in to other 
formats such as DOC and DOCX.

I use Libre, an open source word processing program on our computer.  
Our copy of MS Office aged out and Microsoft wanted to hold us up for a 
stiff fee every year so, being the tightwad I am, I went to open source 
and it seems to work just fine.  John

In LibreOffice, I usually "export as PDF" if I am going to send an
attachment or post a file. Easier to open on my phone.

I have been using LibreOffice, mostly Calc & Writer, for years. It is a
good alternative to Excel.

This will be a great opportunity to showcase our club and the wonderful things that can be made on a lathe.???

I am looking for people to make this a fun and educational event.??More people = more fun!

I am hoping to have volunteers available to demonstrate some woodturning on site??along with some displays of projects and creations from the club.

We are planning on having 2 lathes turning throughout the fair and asking for people to sign up to either turn some items during the fair, or be around the both to talk with folks about woodturning and the club.?

Since this is a family event there will be lots of families and I am looking for volunteers to make small tops that we can give away to kids and families.??I am hoping to get club members to donate between 75-100 small toy tops collectively.??If you can make a few tops for this even please bring them to an meeting or give me a call and I will come pick them up ( with in a 100 mile range please).

Ideally, I would like to have people contact me about times they could be around either taking a turn turning or just talk with people. But spontaneously showing up would be OK.???We will need some donated toy tops along with some blanks to be used as turning demonstrations.?

We will need help during the even as well as setting up and tearing the booth down after the show.?

We are also able to have club members sell their creations from our demonstration area so if you have items you would like to sell please contact me for more details.
