[crw-talk] Walnut Turning Opportunity

Got a call the other day from a lady who was having three walnut trees
cut down in here back yard. She was wondering if she could get a
couple of pieces made from the walnut. She would like 3 christmas type
trees, approx 6", 8" and 10" long. She would also like a platter made.
I went over there yesterday and saw the walnut. This was cut this last
Tuesday. There is a nice crotch piece, which would make a very nice
platter. There are also 5 branch pieces each about 5" diameter and 15"
long for the trees. She is willing to pay to have the pieces made,
$35-$50 for the three trees and $50 for the platter. They will be
sealing the logs with parafin in the next week or so. They live on the
far south side of La Crosse, approximately across the street from
Fiesta Mexicana. I told her it would at least 3-5 months to turn and
dry the pieces and she was ok with that.
I could do the job, but am tied up until the end of February. If
