Hello members,
During the meeting last Saturday, Bob Patros asked if we knew of any groups that might like any of our "extra" turnings that we have around. I suggested that the women's shelter might like to receive something to donate to the people are starting their new lives and receiving something nice for them as they may have left everything behind or they can use them for fundraisers. Several members agreed and I reached out to New Horizons. The email and their response is listed below.
They are having a Victory of Violence fundraiser on April 8th. I have reached out that I will collect items for this fundraiser. I am waiting for a response on when they will be needed by. They liked the idea of receiving spinning tops and items for the individual people utilizing their services.
I will let you know more as I find out details.

To the staff at New Horizons,
I am the secretary of the Coulee Region Woodturners club here in the La Crosse region. Our members create hand made bowls, vases, platters and boxes out of wood and other materials. At the last meeting, one of our members commented that he has too much "inventory" built up and was wanting to donate some of it to a local organization. I suggested New Horizons and several other members agreed that this would be a good organization to support.
I have a couple of ideas on what our club could do to offer support. One, we could donate items that can be auctioned off at your fundraisers. Two, I see that one of the items on your donation list is fidget toys. Many of our members turn tops. I'm not sure if this would qualify as a fidget toy in your mind or not. Three, donate items to be given to people utilizing the shelter so they get something new just for them as they start a new chapter of their lives.
Please let me know if our club could be of assistance to your organization.
Sincerely,
Kris CloughSecretary of the Coulee Region Woodturnersmogoldfish at yahoo.com_______________________________
