We'll be on Zoom, of course. And as he said, he'll send out an invitation with a blue line of code you click on to "git 'er done", (apologies to Larry the Cable Guy. Better to steal his line the the one some other comedian says, "you can't fix stupid). Agenda: We will be chatting as usual but you supply your own donuts and coffee,a business meeting, instant gallery and of course a Demo. The Demo will be on the interplay of 3D printing and woodturning. That will be interesting. James showed the board a picture of a Longworth Chuck made with a 3D printer. In a sense, 3D printing is the opposite of what we do with a blank of wood mounted in the lathe. We are like sculptors who turn away everything that is not the final object we had in mind when we began. 3D printers, on the other hand, spray heated plastic on the surface of the printer to achieve the final object without all the waste around it. For example one can program the printer to make a set of female and male threads to place in a box for a screw-on lid. Kind of the opposite of CNC machining as well. So tune in, have your coffee ready and enjoy. If you have questions about getting connected to Zoom, reply to this with your question and we'll see what we can do to help you get on board. Several chimed in with thoughtful comments about the process. Most of us are aware that this can be a putzy undertaking and requires a lot of attention to detail during the many steps. But our club does have several members who have done this and I would like for someone to volunteer to demonstrate it. I would say this might be best presented once we return to in person mode as I think doing it virtually would be more difficult then your average virtual demo on say making a bowl. If you have the skill to demonstrate this, please consider doing so and get in contact with me. Thank you, John -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I suggested that the women's shelter might like to receive something to donate to the people are starting their new lives and receiving something nice for them as they may have left everything behind or they can use them for fundraisers.? Several members agreed and I reached out to New Horizons.? The email and their response is listed below.?? They are having a Victory of Violence fundraiser on April 8th.? I have reached out that I will collect items for this fundraiser.? I am waiting for a response on when they will be needed by.? They liked the idea of receiving spinning tops and items for the individual people utilizing their services. I will let you know more as I find out details.
