Members,
If you have been keeping track of our wig stand discussion, I had
expressed hope of getting some 8/4 x 61/2" rough sawn cherry to pass
out.
That fell through, the source had burned it in his furnace. Such a
loss. Should have laid claim to it sooner.
Will other members with access to wood step up and donate some blanks
for the cause? It can be nearly everything that is turnable: Walnut
and cherry. Maple and it's cousin box elder. Ash. Oak, poplar, other
hardwoods, cottonwood or pine if you have some nice stuff. Any wood
that will sand to a nice surface and take a decent finish.
A couple of 6" or a bit bigger discs for the base and top, plus a 12-15"
spindle in between them for each wig stand. I envision members donating
wood to others for the stands, and the takers donate $2.00 to the club
for each set of pieces they take as a donation.
John
