Interesting article BTW as the article mentions tying club challenges with a charity drive. Well, its food for thought as we continue. As John G mentioned awhile back, thank you Pam Day for bringing this wig stand idea to the club. Also, thanks to Bob P and Dan W for sending their picture recently to the CRW mail server. I?m hoping to join the cause as I continue to recover. Be well and safe turning. My contacts? response when I inquired was ?This would be amazing?. Folks, this is a wonderful cause and the wig stands will be greatly appreciated by the cancer patients who receive them. Something about receiving something lovingly made from local artisans I?m sure will be special as these folks continue with their cancer treatment and recovery. Collection of the stands information to follow, down the road in the very near future. Seems like I heard or maybe it?s an idea that the club may conduct a club challenge to make stands? I have purchased a replacement. It has 2-4" ports, coming from a 6" port. It has cloth bags. A user would probably want to upgrade to a 2.5 micron bag on top and plastic on the bottom. Both appear to be available on the Grizzly web site at a reasonable cost. Looking online at the Grizzly site, it appears to be much like the G1029Z2P. I purchased this several years ago from a CRW club member. Regards, Bob Raasch 608.769.3833 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Next week Wednesday to be exact. Currently the following members have volunteered to coach. Aaron G Duane H Jay J Jim B We ideally would want 6 mentors there to allow max time for each child turning a pen. We are anticipating a max of 30 turners. We can bring the club lathes and the school has a mini lathe as well so if it's a lathe problem we have you covered. I would also look for loaner Face Shields since they normally use safety glasses. Also hoping to get a few carbide tools to simplify the turn. To my knowledge we have plenty of Mandrels Please let me know in the response to this email if you have any questions or can donate time or tools. In Service Jim Bloomer -- James A. Hoping to see you all on Saturday for our Holiday bash. Where we snack, eat, snack some more and drink coffee while talking about wood, woodturning and tools. No demo this time. John CRW 2022 Demo Schedule As of 10/15/21 January 15 Round Robin: Duane Hill, Sharpening; James Bloomer, Stopper; Aaron Gesicki, Using a hook tool and Marvin Meyer, Spindle turning. February 19 Ken Garden: Demo on box making and weed pots. March 19 David Susag: Spring Pole Lathe. April 16 Alan Lacer: Professional, All day, Fee to attend, topics to be determined. May 21 Marvin Meyer: Fluting with a router on the lathe. June 18 Aaron Gesicki: Making a hook tool, involves grinding and fire so will be held outside in the pavilion. July 16 John fisher: Turning a plant stand. Demos in the planning stages but not yet scheduled Duane Hill, Revisiting texturing, Also Coring. Suggestion/consideration: Consider another professional Demonstration after Alan Lacer's April demo, based on whether we break even on the Lacer demo. A possibility is a two hour remote demo by a professional that would not break the bank. That would also be predicted on our ability to stream one into the Community Center. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... If anyone can swing by and assist with mentoring, assembly or just taking pics for the Facebook/website/newsletter during that time would be much appreciated. We should have 5-6 lathes there.
