Bob -
Some food for thought -
First of all, kudos for what you did. It has a "primitive character", which has attraction for many.

But, consider this.
Years ago, I was blessed with a box of burls from foundry friends in Washburn, WI.
All maple, none very big.
I agonized for a long time on what to do with each. And then - David Ellsworth to the rescue. Y'all know what he sez - "At the end of the day, it's just a piece of wood."
Clarity.
Don't overthink it [Engineers do that. Just ask Duane].
Put it on the lathe and turn something that’s unique, delicate, elegant.
Lofty goals, but they negate the need to make the biggest thing possible from each piece of wood.
The burl donors loved the ones I gave them. Two nice thin asymmetric shallow bowls.
A couple became earrings - my sister still wears hers [no word from the exes - fortunately].

All the best,

Aaron Gesicki

Well, this was a challenging turn for me. The lilac had numerous bark inclusions but was steady as she went. It’s still wet so is spending time in an open paper bag for a while. Can‘t wait to apply finish. Should be pretty.
Hope all are doing well!!
