Hello Katrina,
Thanks for your email. I sent it out to club members for consideration.
The club has been dormant during the pandemic, no official activities
have taken place since late February. I myself am not inclined to be in
an event but asked if some people are interested. Most of our members
are of retirement age and are staying pretty close to home during this
time. If I hear of interest, I will notify you.
John

Julemarked

>Members, If memory serves, Adrian was sent something like this from
>Norskedalen about their Old-Fashioned Christmas Julemarked which he
>forwarded to everyone.
>
>They are asking if the club wants to participate in an outdoor
>Christmas Market (Julemarked) event on Saturday December 5 from 10AM to
>3PM.
>
>I myself do not wish to participate in an outdoor event at this time,
>nor even under normal conditions am I inclined to do an outdoor event
>in December at this point in my life. (Some of you who know me recall
>I used to spend hours looking down a hole in the ice with my back to
>the wind, but that was back in the day.)
>
>That being said, if a group of members want to put together an outing
>at Norskedalen, get together and plan it. You might want to coordinate
>with Katrina Bjornstad at the email address below or I will do the
>coordination if you want. There is an entry fee so I suppose if the
>club was to pay that, then the usual policy of 25% of the sales would
>revert to the club. And presumably you could use the club lathes and
>equipment. Final decision on that would be up to the board.
>
>If a few of you decides to get together and do it without club
>involvement, then no 25% cut to the club and no club equipment would be
>used.
>
>Let me know if you have interest in this event.

>Hi John,
>
>I hope you and your friends and family have been well. You are one of
>the contacts I have for the Coulee Region Woodturners, but if there is
>someone else within the organization who is responsible for
>coordinating events, could you please pass this information on to that
>person?
>
>I wanted to get in touch with you about our Old-Fashioned Christmas
>event. Because of COVID-19 and for the safety of everyone, we cannot
>celebrate in our usual style. So to make an event as safe as possible,
>we are planning an outdoor alternative to enjoy the Christmas season.
>
>Holding a Julemarked (or Christmas Market) during Christmastime is a
>common tradition in Norway. These themed markets offer a range of items
>from traditional foods to specialty folk arts and crafts. This year
>Norskedalen wants to be a part of that tradition by hosting a market
>that features hand-made gifts and Norwegian baked goods. Our
>Old-Fashioned Christmas Julemarked will take place in our open-air
>pavilion on December 5th from 10am – 3pm. At this event, visitors will
>be able to purchase Christmas gifts from local vendors, enjoy our
>property through self-guided tours and hikes, join in on a hunt for the
>yule log, and have their kiddos write letters to Father Christmas!
>
>We are currently looking for vendors for the Julemarked and would like
>to invite the Coulee Region Woodturners to take part in the event. The
>vendor fee for this event is $50. Vendor booths measure 16’x8’ and
>include three picnic tables to be used how you choose. If you wanted to
>bring a lathe, we could work to accommodate that. Because of the size
>of the pavilion and distancing guidelines, there is a limited amount of
>vendors that can participate.
>
>Norskedalen is committed to the safety of staff, volunteers,
>participants, and guests. The COVID-19 guidelines in place at the time
>of the event will be followed and face coverings will be required.
>
>Our Christmas event serves as one of the annual fundraisers for
>Norskedalen and all proceeds from admission and vendor fees are
>invested into education programs and the preservation of countless
>historic objects and buildings that are cared for by Norskedalen.
>
>If you have any questions about the event or about participating,
>please do not hesitate to contact me.
>
>
>
>Best,
>
