[crw-talk] Fw: Exclusive Onine Event: John Jordan, Nov 21

John & Donna Griffiths griff at mwt.net
Sat Nov 14 10:42:52 CST 2020

Members, AAW is offering another two hour demo next Saturday, 11/21,
from 2:00 PM featuring John Jordan. Cost is a tenspot for members and
$30.00 for non AAW members. Jordan is a master at making hollow forms
and he will show us how once again. This will be well worth the cost.
I saw him a few years ago and bought some of his tools. Three to be
exact, really ran up the old credit card that day! He hollows out
green wood without fancy things to show the wall thickness and will tell
us how. Maybe if you get your deer early, you will have a chance to
come into the house to watch. But be sure to sign up by Friday 11/20.

The AAW virtual events are worthwhile and also can be replayed countless
times if you have signed up, for about two weeks after. I did the
Ellsworth one in October and re-watched the whole thing later then
watched a segment on sharpening yet again yesterday. So they are a
wonderful value.

So if making woodchips is still your passion, don't miss it. It will be
fun, even if all you turn are spindle projects. John

Live Online Event

John Jordan

Turning a Small Lidded Jar

Saturday, November 21, 2020

3 p.m. Eastern Time

Join us online for an exclusive experience with the extraordinary John
Jordan, AAW Honorary Lifetime Member and celebrated woodturning master.

John will turn a lidded jar with lathe-turned texture from green wood.
You’ll see use of a side-ground bowl gouge, shear scraper, hollowing
tools, and more, as well as hear about options for lids, including
hammered metal. You’ll find out about using green wood for finished,
refined pieces; a simple method for hollow turning and fitting a lid to
the vessel after drying.

All experience levels are welcome.
Live online demonstration will be approximately 90 minutes, followed by
Q and A.
Registration is open through Friday, November 20, at noon Eastern Time.
