Duane, Thanks for mentioning the Lucid group. Now that’s a high
tech bunch. Just joined, fascinating, an engineers’ heaven group?
Looks like some very useful info for remote demo’s….

Members and former members, thanks for the positive reactions in your
posts. (Mart Schwem and Bob Robinson, if you are still getting this,
sorry, hope your names get deleted soon.) Ken, thanks for taking care
of that little bit of business.
ANYWAY, BOARD MEMBERS, "I love it when a plan is comes together".
(Forgive me for loosely paraphrasing that old TV show I never watched
that had Mr. T in it, I don't recall it's name at the moment.) So we
have people who will let us use their Zoom account for the club which
will allow more then a few attendees and longer meeting times.
James maybe you have a Microsoft account that will allow that too.
Some say Zoom is not the most secure platform in the world. I don't
know if that will be an issue here since we won't be discussing trade
secrets or financial data. No credit cards, no passwords other then
the numbers Zoom issues to identify a meeting and no personal
information.
I THINK THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR IS TO USE THE PLATFORM THAT IS THE
MOST "IDIOT PROOF", MYSELF INCLUDED. And Ginny's suggestion of simply
playing a video from our library as a test or practice activity would
be a great way to get us up and running. Having someone (or more then
one) available by phone during the time would be a good way to sort
out problems and help those of us who are not so technically literate
have an entertaining way to get us up to speed. Ginny, is there any
way we can get you back as a member?! I am also giving a shout out to
Jack and everyone else has invested hours in getting our videos of
professional and club member demos in a DVD format in our library.
Forward thinking even before the COVID had evolved. That, my friends,
is an incredible resource for future on-line meetings. A brief on-line
business meeting to take care of club business then play a demo from
the past. They were worthwhile live in the past and would be very
worthwhile again now!
So James and the rest of the board, I think we have a mandate to run
with it, including me as acting program director. Thanks to everyone
who has participated in this series of discussions. Who ever has any
more ideas, please make them known.
John
