I’ve used it. Just that way, but after leaving the first coat to dry without wiping.

The finish I’ve been using, Minwax Antique Oil Finish, is left on very shortly before I wipe off. Concerned about the urethane setting too quickly. What’s your experience?

Dye was a penetrating product from Craft Supply. Don’t remember the name
The finish is Minwax Fast-Drying Polyurethane gloss.

Nicely done, Aaron! Finish turning a green piece yields interesting shapes. Your finishes, especially seen on the larger dark piece held up well. What did you use?

Way back when, CRW member Larry Wible donated a good-sized chunk that he had brought back from So. Carolina vacation. There were strings attached - turn two bowls from this approx 20L X 20D piece of wood.
I did both of these in a CRW daylong demo in the Falch shop in Winona. Turned green, to finished size.
Yes, these are from the same piece of wood - a rather large piece of Holly.
Two different orientations, and two different finishing treatments.
My apologies for the crappy photography. There may be better pics in the CRW newsletter archives. I'm guessing about 2004, give or take 2 or 3.
