I friend dropped off some crabapple logs for me a week ago. Most were too punky but this one looked ok. 
The vase is 8” tall. Some inlay. Finished with my usual Minwax Antique Oil Finish and buffed. I think he’ll like it.
While giving another friend the leftover logs to burn, I kept the checked cutoff from this one and made a base for it to sit on. 
Hobby Lobby had $.41 ( on sale) brown felt I glued to the bottom of the base.
