When I responded my gunstock maker, a few people were surprised to hear about colored gun stocks.? The colored gun stocks tend to be more of a competition gun thing or even just your average joe person shooting at a gun range vs hunting.? I have included a couple of pictures of stocks made from this wood.? The first is a competition gun made by the gunstock manufacturer I mentioned.? The second is for a .22 cal rifle.? ? Doing a quick look online and the various brand names are ColorWood, Spetraply, DymondWood, WebWood, and Dymalux. The DymmondWood manufacturer had a fire in 2014 and haven't rebuilt.? Another thing to note is some blanks are not cut at an angle (quarter sawn) and will have a different effect. This is one website I found.? The price seems reasonable. A 1.5 x 1.5 x 10" is $7-$10 and even a 2 x 2 x 10" in the same price range.
