You can read about it in the LaCrosse tribune from today (6/9/18)or online. Would you be interested in donating any turned items for their silent auction? It is to be held during their fundraiser event at the Holmen American Legion on Saturday, July 28 from 11 am to 4 pm. If so, I would appreciate it if you could drop off your turnings at my home. My address is 3480 Greenbriar Ct., LaCrosse. Phone number is 608-615-0226. If you can?t come to me, I will come to you. Just let me know. I will collect the pieces and would need to get them to Cheryl by July 24. I plan to turn bowls for the event. Please include your name, type of wood. And, sign your piece. This effort will be much appreciated. A memorial to the Vietnam Vets is long overdue. Thanks for your donations! Bob Patros P.S. Rich, please include in the newsletter. It shows how he studied angles then converted most of his scrapers to a negative rake profile. I had been wanting to do it for a long time, but was afraid I?d screw them up. Waldt tried different angles and came up with what he thought was the best profile. He ground his scrapers 70 degrees for the bottom angle and 30 degrees for the top. He got great results. And, so did I!!! If you would like to try mine out before you take the leap, come on over. Or, I could bring them to a meeting and we could play with them. Just let me know. He planted some walnut trees on his farm when he was 18 in 1946.? I harvested the trees in late Dec. 2017 and have a number of nice pieces that were not of use to the log buyer.? These pieces are on my cousins farm north of Coon Valley on pallets, on concrete, connected to a shed right next to a driveway. Very convenient for pick up.? ? I would be interested in considering any offers. I see that my good friend, Lori Dubczak from Norskedalen had the same idea and shared opportunities for walnut from Norskedalen as I saw her information in the last newsletter.? If anyone is interested, please let me know.? I would love to see this wood be used for making beautiful things!
