I have sad news about Greg Haugen, a former member of CRW and a good friend who started in the club the same time I did. Greg?s wife, Marie, called me this morning to let me know that Greg passed away last night from a heart attack. Marie asked that I let members of the club, who knew Greg, learn of his passing. 

This is a very sad day for me and those who knew Greg. Greg and I became quick friends when I started with CRW and we were regulars at Duane?s open shop night. Greg was always there for me whenever I needed him. He will truly be missed.

Thank You Bob for letting us know, Greg was one person who always had a helping hand in everything, even away from our group, he took the time to show us many things that he did as far as a wood turner, and I do know he was a special person for his daughters and family also. I guess I would make a suggestion for at least some flowers for the wake from the woodturning group.

nice guy who was a valued member of CRW.? He was most certainly a very

Marie Haugen called to let us know the funeral service arrangements for Greg.

Sunday visitation: 2-5 pm at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley.

Monday is the funeral. The service is at 11am at the Presbyterian Church in West Salem.

I will be at the visitation but am having surgery Monday so will not be able to attend the funeral. Hope you can make one or both.

We are having a meeting tomorrow starting at anytime after 8:00 AM with turner shaving talk.  The business end of the meeting starts at 9:00 AM  Our good friend Mark Palma is coming from Eau Claire to talk about embellishments.

Your help is needed to setup the club house.  The doors will open at 6:30.  Come and assist us any time before 7:30, we need the help.  Done by 8:00

Come raise a glass to Norwegian immigrants and navigating life?s hardships during a special reception at Pulpit Rock Brewing Company for Vesterheim's?exhibition Rocks and Hard Places: Emigration Through the Lens of Knud Knudsen.

NRK Article Features Vesterheim Artifacts from Immigrants 
Norwegians immigrated to the United States because of the harsh agricultural conditions in their country?and economic and social factors that all combined to make them the second largest group to immigrate from Europe during the period of 1880 to 1893. Their story illustrates some of the difficulties that immigrants from everywhere face. Norwegian journalists Matunda Bigirimana and Karen Brodshaug Sveen were in Decorah last November to interview a few people about the objects their families brought when they emigrated from Norway to America. The project is now here at NRK as an article. The artifacts that Anna Linnell and Harley Refsal show and talk about are in Vesterheim's collection. Marvin Slind provided an English translation available here.?NRK granted Marv permission to translate their article?and include the link to their page.

Prior registration is required due to limited space.Classes are open to all 2018 paid members. All classes have a minimal fee of $25 (some require a kit) to help support our educational efforts at West High School.

Dennis Palmer will be teaching a class on how to make a multi axis screwdriver. Each student will be supplied with a Alan Laser screwdriver kit so they can make their own multi axis screwdriver. Limited to 7 students, class fee $32
