Long story, short.? Last fall, a friend passed away.? I have literally bought his shop.? There are duplicates and I'm in the process of moving my turning "area" in the house to a "shop" out in the garage before the new equipment arrives. Here are the duplicate machines that I'd like to sell to help with the new acquisition.? I have a Jet 1642. variable speed, 1 1/2 hp lathe that I bought last July, less than a year ago, from A-line. These lathes were $2300-2400 depending on dealer.? This model of lathe is one of the best lathes out there.? Jet has changed the design and the new ones are not as heavy duty as these.? These are basically the Powermatic's little brother with very similar heavy duty castings.? I'm asking for $1800 and I also have some extra accessories that I'll include. I also have a? SuperMax Tools ( a new line of dust collectors and sanders) 1 1/2 Dust Collector with a 1 micron upper bag and a plastic lower bag.? These run $450 new,? I'm asking $300 Jet 14" Bandsaw (open stand) with a 6" cutting depth, 3/4 hp,? and a new 1/2" 3 tpi blade.? This saw is one of the smoothest running saws I've ever used.? This was bought last summer from A-line.? These run $679 new, I'm asking $400?? I also have a 1 hp, heavy duty, slow speed, Rikon grinder that has two new Norton 3X wheels (36 and 80) and is outfitted with the Oneway Wolverine setup and a Varigrind jig.? These is not a run of the mill grinder.? It is very solid and well built.? I just don't need two. ? If you were to buy all of this, it would be over $340.? I'm asking for $200 ?Take Care, Greg? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Having trouble viewing this email? Click here * April 2017 * *Hello AAW:* * ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Woodturning Program Launched at Art Center xxxxxxxxxx * In 2009, I got the idea to start a woodturning program at the Multnomah Arts Center (MAC) , Portland, OR, a local community arts center. We had no lathes or other woodturning equipment. Friends suggested that we apply to the AAW for an Education Opportunity Grant (EOG). We did and were granted $1,000. To this, we added $500 from a friend and $1,000 from local woodturning clubs. We bought five small lathes, five sets of tools, and other small items needed for a successful program. Along the way several local individuals gave us other woodworking equipment. Two years ago, we turned one of the "temporary" free standing classrooms into a wood shop. There are now six quality lathes with tools and other equipment for woodturning and the classes are producing nice turned wood items. None of this would have happened without the help from the American Association of Woodturners EOG grant. We all thank you. ~ Jerry Harris AAW member and woodturning instructor at Multnomah Arts Center * New AAW Chapter * The AAW welcomes Etowah River Turners , Canton, GA, which held its first official meeting in March. At the center of the 1.6-meter-diameter poplar platter sits a maple dome that contains a map of Canada showing each province and territory and the dates each joined Confederation, the Canadian flag, and each province's floral emblem. A textured motif, resembling a river, runs from the top of the platter to the bottom, breaking up the pattern and representing the rivers in Canada. Nine club members participated in the event, including Jim Frank, Virginia Green, Phil Miller, Bob Raasch, John Griffiths, Jack Fitzpatrick, Kristine Clough, Duane Hill, and Nicole Sandeen. The session began with an introduction to the lathe and safety practices. Students made projects focused mainly on spindle turning, which ranged from mushrooms to pens. The chapter had eight lathes running and club members provided the tools, projects, wood, and acrylic pen blanks. Coulee Woodturners Ohio Valley Woodturners Guild In March, the Ohio Valley Woodturners Guild , Kennedy Heights, OH, hosted a woodturning learning workshop for eight children. Each youth was assisted by a skilled OVWG member mentor and completed at least two projects of their choice. Projects included an ice cream scoop, pizza cutter, wooden pen, weed pot, tea light, and miniature baseball bat. ~ Jerry Harris AAW member and woodturning instructor at Multnomah Arts Center [http://files.constantcontact.com/c38abb3f001/445d0061-4886-4ec5-81be-c7cafd21289b.jpg] New AAW Chapter The AAW welcomes Etowah River Turners, Canton, GA, which held its first official meeting in March. [Coulee Woodturners] [Ohio Valley Woodturners Guild] In March, the Ohio Valley Woodturners Guild, Kennedy Heights, OH, hosted a woodturning learning workshop for eight children. Each youth was assisted by a skilled OVWG member mentor and completed at least two projects of their choice. Projects included an ice cream scoop, pizza cutter, wooden pen, weed pot, tea light, and miniature baseball bat.
