Subject: how r you?
Jim, I was able to join the local Northeast Wisconsin Woodturners club. It has 80 members with a waiting list. The facility only allows for that many in its wood shop area. I've been with them for a year now and am scheduled for the April meeting on for Making The Native American Indian style flute. I have about 25 members blanks right now. I'll take my last ones on the 2nd Sat. of March That is when we meet. We do not meet July and August. The meetings go from 9:00 to as late as 1:00 and lunch is served up for $5.00 Almost everyone stays for lunch and then we have a raffle at every meeting. 1/2 goes to club and 1/2 goes to whomever name is called. It seems to make good $$$ for the club each month. Another 1/2 dozen gift certificates are handed out as well. We have the gallery as well and we have a store. The store person purchases regularly used items such as CA glue and other useful products. I'm living in Neshkoro now on Silver Springs Lake, A no wake quiet clean lake that has 240 cottages on it. Not many homes with basements, most are on slabs. Come Oct. everyone seems to close up their places and many go to Florida or Arizona. So we are lucky to have all 9 of our neighbors on our point...gone for 6 months. It is GREAT and QUIET. Had any more injuries of lately? Their is a place in Door county called "the clearing" it is a school similar to Marc Adams School of Woodworking except the instructors are volunteer but the students pay for classes...like a week for $1000.00. It has cabins and dormitories and feeds you 16 meals per week. Don't know why any instructors would freely give this much time for nothing but I guess I may be one of them...time will tell. Well just thought I'd say hello. Give out a HELLO to the club members for me as well if you remember. Joe "Growling Bear" Hemmerich
