Don,
Thanks for the clarification. Obviously, this is a bigger discussion than I thought.
I copied our members so they are aware. I hope a few Board members can attend.
Best regards,
Bob

I serve as the Chair of the City Arts Board who is sponsoring the community dialogue held at the Pump House.
You are correct I was the chair of the Pump House. And at one time the Symphony as well.
The Arts Board is interested in how artists view the city/region as an arts community? Is supportive? Does it attract creative individuals? Retain them?
What are ways to improve and make it more supportive? More vibrant.
It is intended as a dialogue with our artistic community. We wanted to be certain to invite all that might have opinions and ideas.
This might clarify what was not clear. We were relying on the news release that was attached to tell a bit more of the story. Thank you for informing your members of the meeting on Monday. October 19th, 6PM at the Pump House.
Best Regards, Don.

Chair, City Arts Board.

Members,
Attached please find an invitation to a meeting to discuss art issues for LaCrosse. The invite is from Don Smith, I believe President of the Board of the Pump House.
In the past, CRW had displays at the Pump House and there were (are?) WRAP competitions. For the WRAP competitions, the judge(s) usually knew nothing about wood art. Nice people, but just not knowledgeable about turning. Over the past couple years, I have not seen competitions at the Pump House that led me to believe that a turned piece would fit in. I could have missed something going on there, however.
When I first started with CRW in 2005, we had a club display at the Pump House. Group displays at the Pump House had gotten to be more cumbersome to do as they are now juried (not sure if they were in the past). This means that pieces to be displayed would need to be photographed and sent in for approval. If it’s one person displaying, not too much of an issue. But with our group of 100 members, too much hassle in my view. Etc, etc.
These are my thoughts. I could be wrong as things may either be different or I misunderstood. Regardless, it would be beneficial to have a CRW Board member at this session.
Thanks,
Bob
