Members,
I have some surplus vacuum chuck parts on hand. They include tubing, a
gauge, lamp rod, bearing, filter, pipe fittings, a 4" PVC coupling and a
relief valve. Also illustrated directions to assemble the whole works
and some craft foam to create a tight seal between the coupling and your
workpiece. Not included is a pump or a piece of wood to turn the chuck
base that fits in your lathe. This kit is for a lathe with a hollow
headstock shaft.
The pumps become available on line here and there and I have seen them
on eBay for as little as $35.00 on up. Worn ones can be overhauled for
~$20 and the parts are readily available and American made.
I bought my vacuum chuck kit from the frugalvacuumchuck at gmail.com and
combined it with some parts I had on hand so am offering the items above
for sale as I have no need for them.
At the January meeting one of our members did a mini demo of vacuum
chucking which shows how versatile and handy they can be. They are
really great for finishing bowl bottoms but also holding other smaller
items for work as well.
I will bring my kit to the meeting on Saturday and they go home with the
first person who gives me $30.00 or who reserves it between now and
then, which is probably about what you would pay if you bought the parts
individually.
John
