I have had several people ask me where I got the sphere and centerline
calipers I used for part of my demo this last Saturday. Both were
developed and are sold by a turner named Soren Berger, from New Zealand.
The sphere caliper can be found at this link:
http://sorenberger.co.nz/products/soren-berger-sphere-caliper. The
radius/diameter caliper can be found at this link:
http://sorenberger.co.nz/products/soren-berger-radius-diameter-caliper.
If you go to Soren's website (http://sorenberger.co.nz), you can also
see a video he had done on how to use the calipers and turn a sphere.
Also, if anybody is interested, I can make you up set of the sphere
holders that I had out UHMW. I would make one end fit a small chuck or
be threaded directly to your headstock. For the headstock, I would nee
to know the thread size or the lathe you are working on. For the holder
on the tail stock, I could make up a holder that is threaded, if you
have a Oneway, Powermatic or Robust live center. If you don't have one
of these, I can make one up that fits a standard Delta or Jet live
center. The cost would be $20 for a pair of holders. Just let me know
if you are interested.
Duane
