Members:

Sunday July 6 is the day of the big event at Norskedalen's "Art Fair and
Wine Tasting" . We have reserved a booth space there in a shady area
where we will demonstrate turning and sell pieces we want to sell. All
members are welcome and encouraged to participate.

We will need several members to demonstrate turning and we will have a
club lathe or two there You don't have to be a turner of Cindy Drozda's
or Jimmy Clewes' ability level to demonstrate. (Heck, if that was
required, I would have been thrown out of the club for sheer
incompetence by now.) Some members like to turn bowls at such events,
others like to turn simpler things that can be turned in a few minutes
and given away to spectators. Last year Duane taught a 10 year old girl
how to turn a simple item at the festival at UW-La Crosse. It is
helpful to have other members standing by to chat with passers-by. You
may be the one who recruits an new member for the club this way.

The other thing we need is member's pieces they want to offer for sale.
You price it; and to cover the club's cost of the entry fee and to earn
a few bucks for the treasury, the club takes 25% of the sales. So say
one of your items is sold, the money goes to the club and the club
issues the you a check for 75% of the price. Get lucky and sell a few
pieces you have sitting around always needing dusting, and you will have
cleared enough cash to buy some turning tool you can't live without.
Good looking bowls are often in demand. You can simply send your work
with someone who is going down there to represent the club. Or better
yet, you can go there and help. the more help we have, the less time
anyone will have to work and the more time all will have to wander
around and check out everything that is going on.

John Phillips has again volunteered to be the go-to guy. Make his life
easy by contacting him to contribute in whatever way you can. That
benefits you, the club and it enhances his reputation for stellar
leadership. (And it makes him more willing to keep doing this which
really benefits the club.) Call him at 608-486-1181 or email him at
jphillips006 at centurytel.net.

Thanks for all you do for the club,

John
