Dear fellow Coulee Region Woodturners,
I know this the best time of the year to be in the shop, making shavings and
cool things. I would be also, but as of late I've involved with volunteering
at this supplemental warming center, held at Wesley UMC, in downtown
LaCrosse.
The supplemental center provides a safe, warm and inviting place for the
homeless men and women to stay during this extremely cold days and nights.
We are open 24/7.
There are many needs; financial resources, food and especially the
willingness of people to volunteer their time to be present at the center
for volunteer shifts.
I sending out this message to encourage anyone with an interest in helping
out, to volunteer your time and talents at the center.
The following is what is on the attachment. Please pass any of this
information on to your friends outside the turning club.
Volunteer assistance is needed at the Supplemental Emergency Warming Shelter
at Wesley United Methodist Church, 721 King Street, LaCrosse. Due to the
continuing frigid temperatures, the shelter has remained open day and night.
Onsite training with written guidelines will be provided at the Shelter.
The number of people needed for each shift is in (parentheses)

8:30 am - noon (4)

4:30 pm - 9:00 pm (4)
8:30 pm - midnight (4)
Midnight - 6 am (4)
The evening and overnight shifts, from 8:30PM-8:30AM are critical. Any help
is greatly appreciated

PS, I do look forward to this Saturday's all day turning session and Alan
Lacer's hands on workshop.
Feel free to ask me any questions about the extremely positive experiences
I've had working with the other volunteers and "guests".
Best regards. Bob
