Greetings members:

First I'm going to ask a question. Did you leave Shorty's so stuffed
you needed to be helped to your car? That was our best Shorty's event
since I have been in the club and several members drove a hundred miles
to get to it. Hats off to those who drove such a distance. Mary and
Alan Lacer really gave a great demo.

We have another opportunity to eat your way into oblivion. Free. And
much closer for those who live south and east of La Crosse. Norskedalen
is having their Threshing Bee on Saturday September 20. Yes, it
conflicts with our club meeting, but it is an opportunity for us to
demonstrate in an enclosed shelter and sell turnings. The usual rule
applies, 25% of the take stays with the club and the member who made it
gets 75%. So even if you can't attend, but want to have some pieces
sold, get them turned in (no pun intended) and the persons running the
event will sell them for you. And the culinary delight is Norskedalen
will give each member working the event a free ticket for the thresher's
dinner. And when you have a dinner there it gives meaning to the phrase
"eating like a thresher". Now the food is not as good as Shorty's but
it is very tasty and served in quantity. If you eat so much you need to
be helped back to the demonstration area, then your participation there
will be a success.

So if you can, please sign up by contacting me. I'll get names etc.
together and give them to the member or members who take the lead . I
need to know who is planning to be there so Norskedalen can send us the
correct number of lunch tickets. If you leave there hungry, it is your
own darn fault. Of course if you demonstrate bring your tools, wood and
such. Bring a chuck with 1"X 8 TPI threads if you turn something that
requires a chuck.

September 20 is rapidly approaching so get your plans checked and let me
know if you can contribute.

Thank you, John
