Members, I have for sale many of the parts for a vacuum chuck system.
Everything except the block of hardwood to be machined into the chuck
adapter, the vacuum pump, epoxy and bit of Teflon tape is included.

It includes brass fittings (not plastic), gauge, a 30" lamp rod, an R6
2RS bearing, nuts, 4" PVC coupling, plastic vacuum line, filter,
directions with photos and craft foam. It requires a lathe with a
hollow headstock. It is ready to hook up to a pump on one end and your
lathe on the other.

The pump can often be found on eBay for maybe $40 plus shipping on up,
and a used one needs to draw about 21" of vacuum or more. If the pump
is showing it's age, rebuild kits are available for ~$20. A Gast 82R or
a Thomas 2660 pump is what you need. Just keep an eye on eBay until you
find one that suits you.

A 5 1/2" by 5 1/2" by 1 1/2" block of wood is needed.

I will sell everything in paragraph two above for $75 and will bring it
to the next club meeting. Contact me by email or phone 608-248-2782 if
interested or you have questions.

My system with a Thomas 2660 motor draws 21-22" of vacuum and makes
finishing bowls a breeze. I bought a rebuild kit and plan to rebuild it
after Christmas. The motors are rated to run 24-7 and are from oxygen
concentrators that people use in their houses when they need
supplemental oxygen. John
