Hello everyone,
Soon fall will be in the air and just around the bend is the September tool
raffle at the next meeting. Feast your eyes on the this wonderful selection
of the 3 Hunter mini hollowing tool set with cutter removal tool, designed
by Mark St Leger, obtained by Greg Haugen and 8 sea urchins obtained by
Duane Hill. The tool set is designed for hollowing small hollow forms, such
as vessels, or other items a maximum of about 3 in. tall. The set retails
for about $250 on Hunter's website. See the You Tube video by John Lucas
here
<http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=FFW5ODChWkI#t=60> .
If the link does not work, just search for Hunter Carbide tape hollowing
tools on the You Tube website.
The beautiful urchins seashells were selected by Duane Hill. Notice the
gorgeous shapes and colors (I believe Sputnik, Alsphonso, and colors of
green, purple, white). Looking online, I found the selection probably
retails for about $15-$20. These will make beautiful ornaments, ideal for
Christmas presents or to decorate your own tree. See red background picture
below from finewoodworking.com
Our own master turner and teacher, Duane Hill, will be demonstrating the
making of various Christmas ornaments.
So folks, save your moola, come to the meeting, enjoy some coffee and
refreshments, and purchase your raffle tickets at the usual price.
There will be one very lucky winner. Hope it's me. Nah, I never win
anything!
It is important for members to know, the tool raffles help augment costs
related to running this wonderful Coulee Region Woodturning club. The club
membership fee does not cover all of the associated costs, so as many
organizations do, fundraising is important to the success of the club. We
usually do this about 3 times a year.
Happy turning and safely keep making those shavings. Bob
