Greetings CRW members,

I received the following and discussed the content with our CRW
Officers. While we are a bit distant from St Paul, if any CRW members
are interested in participation please notify a club officer.

Bill

Your chapters are the four closest to the St Paul Symposium: Minnesota
Woodturners, Zumbro Valley, Coulee Region and Chippewa Valley. We are
starting to work on the list of selected demonstrators for the
symposium. By tradition AAW wants to have some local turners
demonstrate at the symposium. This adds regional color to each
symposium. Could we get you to check around and see who would be good
demonstrators for the symposium? They would need to have some
experience demonstrating. We would like your recommendations that the
members you suggest put on a good demo. We are not sure of the exact
number of slots we will need to fill now because we will need to balance

the different topics. By the end of October we will want to have a
pretty good idea of who will be demonstrating at St Paul. I have
listed below the demonstrators we have invited so far.
The second topic is committee assignments. Linda Ferber said she had
met with some of you already. Linda has the committee handbook that
gives the general committees it takes to put the symposium together. I
can have her send it to you if you don't already have it. It would be
helpful for us if someone stepped forward and offered to be the local
liaison. When it came to Portland in 2007 I was the local liaison (way
before I was on the board). I helped coordinate between the AAW office
and the local volunteers. You four are in position to know who the
local workers are and will know who to ask when you need help. I live
in Portland Oregon and won't know who to ask.
This will be a good symposium. We have invited all the AAW Honorary
Life Members and a lot of long time AAW members. We have some special
exhibitions lined up. We will be in Minnesota in late January or early

February to do the pre planning for the symposium. We will have a
chance to sit down and discuss the symposium committees then. Thank you
for any recommendations you can pass our way. Dale Larson Symposium
