I recently picked up a vacuum pump, gauge kit, and EZ adaptor from a friend who's a turner. It's never been used. He bought it a year ago and never got around to hooking it up before health issues started. This is the Gast, 523 model series, 1/4 hp, rotary vane, 110 volt, pump that the turning catalogs sells for $400 or more. The pump weighs approx. 40 pounds. A gauge accessory kit that includes a handle, gauge, bleeder value, male connection, and also an EZ adaptor is included that will fit any lathe by trimming the threaded rod to size, except for direct motor drives because they have a solid headstock-if your lathe has a belt, this will fit. Packard Woodworks sells the Ez Adaptor for $85. I have tested the pump and it pulls 26 inches of mercury. I'll usually adjust that to 18-20, by using the bleeder valve in the gauge accessories, to a good working pressure.

I wanted to help him out by providing a sale and to get someone down here a good start on a vacuum system so
I'm offering it for $200, which is what it cost me. It's value is over $485.

Vacuum drums, the part the bowl gets sucked to, can be made with a pvc pipe coupler, faceplate, and mdf; or purchased in catalogs-aluminum drums from Oneway.

If your interested, please let me know.

Take Care,

Greg Haugen
